Meet Jamie Pearson, Materials Engineer Intern at OGC Energy!

Jamie joined us in 2022 as a summer intern and has continued to work alongside the 4th year of his masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Applying the wealth of knowledge gained while studying, Jamie has worked on projects across the energy sector to determine the suitability of materials considering corrosion, erosion, and other damaging environments.

Jamie has been involved in project work across the energy sector. He played a key role in assessing the suitability of repurposing existing oil and gas infrastructure for hydrogen service, and the potential environmental impact of the change in service fluid.

Jamie is well versed in clear and concise report writing. He also enjoys thinking outside the box to find new ways forward, such as accelerating workflows with python scripting.

Starting his career here, Jamie’s first project at OGC was assessing natural gas infrastructure repurposing for Net Zero Technology Centre, where he took a lead in carrying out hydrogen leak safety and environmental impact assessments. Since then, he has set to, aiding materials selection for gas pipelines across multiple continents.
