Subsurface Integrity Review in Adnoc
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company
United Arab Emirates.

Background
Adnoc, the state-owned oil company of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), operates both onshore and offshore oilfields. It is ranked as the 12th largest oil company in the world by production, with a current oil production capacity of over 4 million barrels per day. The company has plans to increase its production capacity to 5 million barrels per day by 2030. As the largest oil company in the UAE, Adnoc needed to confirm the fitness for purpose of the Asab and Bab subsurface facilities in order to maintain production and achieve its goals.
Challenges
Adnoc was in a race against time to ensure the performance and longevity of their Asab and Bab subsurface facilities. Without an expert team with a deep understanding of well design, production chemistry, and corrosion, their plans to increase production capacity and achieve their business objectives were at risk.
How OGC Energy Helped ADNOC
Adnoc turned to OGC Energy for a solution and our team of experts, equipped with project management, subsurface, materials, and corrosion expertise, conducted a comprehensive subsurface integrity study and identified 9 key areas for improvement, including sustained annulus pressure, downhole inhibition, OGD (III) Project, cementing, external corrosion of casing, tubing and casing inspection, materials selection, downhole deposition and wellhead, and the switch over of oil to gas producers.
Our recommendations, ranked in terms of ease of implementation and maximum positive impact, allowed Adnoc to develop a comprehensive business continuity plan for their subsurface operations, extend the lifespan of their assets, and gain reassurance that the materials were fit for purpose.
