Triton FPSO Life Extension Project

Background

Dana has operated the Triton FPSO since 2012. It is located in block 21/30 approximately 120 miles east of Aberdeen, and produces oil and gas from the Bittern, Clapham, Pict, Saxon, Guillemot Area subsea facilities.

The challenge

Dana Petroleum's FPSO Triton was approaching the end of its design life, and the company was faced with the challenge of ensuring that the vessel could continue to operate in production until 2030 while fully complying with regulatory requirements and Triton Performance Standards. To do this, they needed to determine a plan to maintain the FPSO Triton that would keep it on-station and producing.

How OGC Energy Helped Dana Petroleum

OGC Energy partnered with an engineering consultancy to bring their expertise in operations support and life extension studies of FPSOs to the table. The team carried out a comprehensive review of the FPSO Integrity Management System, covering the hull coating condition and ICCP systems, pressure vessels, oil production and test facilities, gas compression, export, and treating systems, produced water and water injection systems, relief and flare systems, and utilities, heating, and cooling systems.
The review confirmed the feasibility of asset life extension and identified and prioritised activities for asset life extension. As a result, Triton will be able to continue production on station until 2030, ensuring that the company could sustain its operations beyond the design life of the vessel.
The partnership between OGC Energy and the engineering consultancy was a success. By bringing our expertise in FPSO life extension, they were able to ensure that Triton could continue to operate in production until 2030, fully complying with regulatory requirements and Triton Performance Standards. The team's comprehensive review of the FPSO Integrity Management System confirmed the feasibility of asset life extension and identified the necessary activities for ensuring the vessel's longevity.
