OGC Energy’s Commitment to a Sustainable Future – Supporting OEUK Manifesto

OGC Energy’s Commitment to a Sustainable Future – Supporting OEUK Manifesto OGC Energy as a member of OEUK, fully supports the principles and objectives outlined in the OEUK 2024 Industry Manifesto. OGC Energy believes in the vision for a homegrown energy transition, emphasising the UK offshore energy sector’s crucial role in bolstering economic and environmental prosperity. OGC Energy commits to contributing to an energy transition that ensures no community, individual, or sector is left behind. We align with OEUK’s goals to secure jobs, foster investment, and promote sustainability in the energy sector.

OGC Energy aligns with OEUK’s commitment to realising the UK’s net-zero targets by 2050 or sooner, understanding the importance of decarbonising offshore energy production to meet the country’s energy needs sustainably. By supporting the manifesto, OGC Energy pledges to be part of the collaborative effort to secure over 200,000 high-value jobs, deliver significant private investment, and embrace technological innovation, thereby reinforcing the UK’s position as a leader in green industrial power and supporting the broader value of the industry in a changing energy landscape. Driving Economic Growth and Innovation

OGC Energy is deeply involved in projects across the renewables market, contributing to the realisation of this potential. For instance:

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Initiatives: OGC Energy is deeply engaged in CCS projects, focusing on mitigating carbon emissions from industrial processes and power generation. With extensive experience in real-world CCUS projects, we offer expert insights and collaborate closely with regulators, operators, manufacturers, and academic institutions. Our approach to each CCS project is unique, emphasising expertise-driven solutions tailored specifically for CCS challenges. We refine our guidance based on a comprehensive understanding of CCS complexities, delivering customised solutions that leverage our proven track record in the domain. OGC Energy has various CCS projects with a combined injection capacity of over 88 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), including two projects in the UK North-West region and the Viking CCS project.

Offshore Wind Farm: OGC Energy plays a pivotal role in the development of offshore wind farms, harnessing the abundant wind resources of the UK coastline to generate clean, renewable energy. These projects not only contribute to meeting the country’s energy needs but also create employment opportunities and stimulate local economies. Examples of these projects are first of the first offshore wind to green hydrogen project, and first offshore wind farm on the UK’s south coast, Rampion.

Hydrogen: OGC Energy has real life experience in H+ environments and H2 capital projects. Our profound materials knowledge facilitates solutions to hydrogen-related challenges including hydrogen embrittlement of metals and elastomer degradation. We maintain an objective and pragmatic approach to drive projects forward, rather than engaging in mere academic research. OGC Energy provides direct and comprehensible answers, assisting clients and their supplying in grasping the intricacies of H2 project requirements. Examples of our track record include providing materials support for the first offshore wind to green hydrogen project, Dolphyn, and the Net Zero Technological Centre – Hydrogen Backbone Link, where we assessed valves and materials suitability for the project’s requirements.

OGC Energy actively shares best practices and lessons learned from our projects, both within the industry and beyond. By promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration, we contribute to continuous improvement and in OGC Energy actively shares best practices and lessons learned from our projects, both within the industry and beyond. Through avenues such as papers, lunch and learn sessions, articles, and conference presentations, we disseminate insights and foster dialogue on critical topics shaping the offshore energy sector. By promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration, we contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in the industry, ensuring sustainable practices and driving positive outcomes for stakeholders innovation in the offshore energy sector.

OGC Energy is fully committed to supporting the OEUK manifesto and advancing the goals of a sustainable energy future for the UK. Through our projects, partnerships, and advocacy efforts, we strive to be catalysts for positive change, driving economic growth, innovation, and inclusivity in the offshore energy sector.
